He has spent his life saving others. Now a town without law needs him to hunt its killers.
Dr. Brody Connor has built a life around healing: a respected hospital, a thriving ranch, and a family he would do anything to protect. Then a ruthless gang turns Waco’s public celebration into a massacre, robbing the Texas State Bank and leaving the sheriff, his deputies, and innocent townspeople dead.
Brody works through the night to save the wounded. Hours later, the killers storm his hospital, silence two of their own, and murder Dr. Skip and Nurse Wilma. With the local law wiped out and the Texas Rangers unable to help for months, the trail is left to a man who never wanted a badge.
Carrying the medicine of a healer and the weapons of a warrior, Brody rides north after men who will kill anyone standing in their way. The farther he travels, the more the same question follows him: Why me?
Brody may not know why the fight keeps finding him. He only knows he cannot let the killers ride free.
