The five-member SFX Corporation is a private military contractor working at various times for government agencies, individual clients, or on personal projects, rejecting any job offers that might place them on the "wrong side" ethically.

The team accepts a DEA contract to investigate a resurgent drug cartel in Colombia, allegedly led by the revenant of deceased narcotrafficker Pablo Escobar, reputedly killed in 1993 but now reappearing "in the flesh."
