The Badge On The Cross: A Western Short Story
Junior grew up looking up to his Pa who wore a badge and carried a gun. As far back as he could remember, he’d wanted to be just like him. But his Pa kept telling him he had to earn the right to wear the badge and carry a gun. For years, Junior swept out the jail and fed the prisoners, until one day he’d had enough. He had to prove himself worthy. Junior knew what he had to do. He would have to face a mountain of a man and best him. And if he lost, he would not only lose his Pa’s respect, he might just lose the chance to wear the badge and carry a gun forever.
